Social Development and Human Rights

BRAC’s Social Development Programme aims to enable the rural poor _ especially women _  to build, secure and use socio-political assets to improve their lives,  take advantage of new opportunities, exercise their rights, and play a more active role in public life. A strong, rights-based framework is at the heart of the programme, which is currently being implemented in Bangladesh.

We focus on four key thematic areas:

• Empowering the Rural Poor
• Strengthening Local Governance
• Information through Popular Theatre
• Human Rights and Legal Services 

In addition to these, BRAC is also working towards Active Citizenship and Accountable Local Government.
