BRAC Programs

Our Philosophy

We do whatever it takes to create the conditions and opportunities for people, women and girls especially, to take control of their own lives. Tools include microloans for women farmers, micro-savings accounts, schools for children, clubs for adolescent girls, maternal healthcare, legal empowerment, higher education through BRAC University, and more.

Opportunities Through Education

By targeting students from the poorest backgrounds and ensuring girls are a majority in every classroom, BRAC schools have educated 10.8 million children worldwide as of June 2014.

Providing Access to Health Care

BRAC has made sizeable contributions towards the field of public health by training volunteers in remote regions as community health workers who are able to provide healthcare and services.

Building Markets for the Poor

Though microfinance on its own is often not enough to lift families out of poverty, combined with other interventions, BRAC has found that it is has positive effects even on non-financial indicators.

Reaching Vulnerable Populations

BRAC effectively empowers the most vulnerable through tailored programs for those living on less than 60 cents per day, adolescent girls and those affected by climate change and natural disasters.
