BRAC began its journey in Rwanda in 2019, offering microfinance services. Rwanda is the most densely populated country in Africa, with a population of 13 million and growing.
The country has made significant progress in reducing poverty and promoting gender equality. But many families still face barriers to building better futures. Unemployment, climate change, and limited access to financial services can make it hard to move forward and thrive.
About 64% of Rwanda’s population lives in poverty, surviving on less than $3 per day. Since then, we’ve expanded to ensure youth can access skills and opportunities to thrive, reach those furthest behind, and help communities gain resilience.
