Building a sustainable social enterprise to expand access to affordable, high-quality early childhood development in Tanzania.
Established in 2020, BRAC Enterprises Tanzania Limited (BETL) is a socially responsible, for-profit organisation dedicated to scaling impactful and sustainable social enterprises in Tanzania. We create financially sustainable pathways to social impact, generating profits that are reinvested to fuel long-term growth and resilience.
Our first social enterprise, Angaza Academies, applies a social franchise approach to empower local women to establish and manage their own Early Childhood Development centres. Operating under the Angaza Academies brand, each affiliate centre functions as an independent enterprise led by a trained Head Caregiver, adhering to our quality and operational standards.

OUR APPROACH
Sustainable ECD Model
We’re developing a market-driven model for affordable, high-quality early childhood education that can sustain and scale without donor dependence.
Social Franchise Innovation
Through an innovative social franchise model, trained Head Caregivers operate their own day-care centres (Angaza Affiliates) under BETL’s standardized brand and quality framework. This approach allows BETL to focus on maintaining excellence while empowering local head caregivers — fostering women’s entrepreneurship and affordable, play-based learning that is accessible to every child in Tanzania.
Quality You Can Measure
Each Angaza Academies Affiliate uses internationally recognised tools to track learning, care quality, and child development outcomes — ensuring teachers are well supported and every child reaches their full potential.
Empowering Women Entrepreneurs
The Affiliate model enables women caregivers to become independent business owners, earning up to five times the local market average while transforming their communities.
Aligned with National Policy
All Angaza centres are registered under Tanzania’s Social Welfare framework, ensuring legal compliance, quality assurance, and alignment with national early childhood development (ECD) priorities.
